BARC Ratings: Viewership peaks for UEFA Euro 2016's Hungary vs Portugal match

According to the BARC data for week 25 (18-24 June, 2016), four major sports tournaments- UEFA Euro 2016 France Live, Prayag Cup, Hero FIH Hockey Champions Trophy London 2016-Final and Copa America Centenario 2016 benefitted their respective channels hugely. UEFA Euro 2016 France continued to gain viewership for Sony Sports Network. Also, Prayag Cup T20 Series, Zimbabwe vs India fetched impressive ratings for TEN Network and DD. The final match of Hero FIH Hockey Champions Trophy London 2016-Final Live played between Australia vs India benefitted DD National and Star Sports 2.

Detailed report below:

In UEFA Euro 2016 France Live the highest impressions were observed in the matches which were telecast at night (21:20-23:20).Among these matches, The match played between Hungary vs Portugal on Wednesday on Sony Six fetched 1,421 impressions ‘000s in week 25.The Iceland vs Hungary match which were telecasted simultaneously on Sony Six and Sony ESPN on Saturday fetched 1,207 impressions ‘000s. The match played between Northern Ireland vs Germany on Tuesday on Sony Six garnered 728 impressions ‘000s. Also, the match between Ukraine and Poland the same day on Sony ESPN got 407 impressions ‘000s.

Only one match was played in the evening slot (18:20 – 20:20) in week 25. The match between Belgium vs Republic of Ireland which was telecasted simultaneously on Sony Six and Sony ESPN fetched 742 impressions ‘000s.  

Although highest number of matches were telecasted in the mid-night slot (24:20 – 02:30). The match played between Portugal vs Austria on Saturday fetched 203 impressions ‘000s. Also, the Spain vs Turkey match on Friday got 142 impressions ‘000s, both these matches were simulcast on Sony Six and Sony ESPN.  Both Switzerland vs France match played on Sunday and Sweden vs Belgium match played on Wednesday telecasted on Sony Six garnered 104 impressions ‘000s.

The Croatia vs Spain match and Czech Republic vs Turkey match played on Tuesday telecasted fetched 88 impressions ‘000s and 83 impressions ‘000s respectively. On Monday, two matches were played, Russia vs Wales and Slovakia vs England on ESPN and Six respectively which fetched 35 impressions ‘000s and 58 impressions ‘000s respectively. Romania vs Albania match on Sunday fetched 22 impressions ‘000s.

The match between Zimbabwe vs India in the Prayag Cup fetched 7410 impressions ‘000s on Saturday (16:27 - 20:07 on DD, 16:28 - 20:08 on Ten), , 4863 impressions ‘000s on Sunday (16:30 - 19:14 on DD, 16:28 - 19:15 on Ten) and 5931 impressions ‘000s on Wednesday (16:29 - 20:04 on DD, 16:28 - 20:05 on Ten).

The final match of Hero FIH Hockey Champions Trophy London 2016-Final Live played between Australia vs India on  Friday and Saturday fetched 21 impressions ‘000s, DD National got 7.9 impressions ‘000s and Star Sports 2 (SD+HD) got 13.6 impressions ‘000s.

The semi-final match played between USA vs Argentina in the Copa America Centenario 2016 Live on Wednesday fetched 1,059 impressions ‘000s for the channel in week 25, the previous 4 weeks average of the channel was 143 impressions ‘000s. The Mexico vs Chile, Quarter Finals on Sunday fetched 605 impressions ‘000s is week 25 whereas the previous 4 weeks average was 202 impressions ‘000s. The semi final between Colombia vs Chile on Thursday fetched 261 impressions ‘000s in week 25, the previous 4 weeks average was 82 impressions ‘000s. The other two quarter final matches between Argentina vs Venezuela and Peru vs Colombia on Sunday and Saturday respectively got 146 impressions ‘000s and 174 impressions ‘000s respectively.

The first episode of ‘Rishton Ka Saudagar – Baazigar’ on Life OK took Monday, 19:30-20:10 slot up by 44 per cent. The previous 4 weeks average impressions of the slot were 1,491 impressions ‘000s which rose to 2,142 impressions ‘000s.

The premiere of ‘Furious 7’ on Sony Pix on Sunday, took 13:00-15:46 slot up by 8 times. The impressions rose to 162 impressions ‘000s in week 25 which were 21 impressions ‘000s in the previous four weeks.
