BARC Ratings: Rural population garnered around 48 per cent of the total viewership in week 51
As per week 51 (December 19-25, 2015) BARC data ,including both rural and urban markets, Hindi GECs garnered a total 5.4 billion ratings 000s in Hindi Speaking Markets (HSM) whereas, 2.6 billion in only the rural market. The rural population garnered around 48 per cent (26,39,959) of the total viewership in week 51. Below 10L Urban population fetched 25 per cent (13,66,573) of the total viewership ratings.
As far as the individual Hindi GECs are concerned, Colors, with 725 million ratings, replaced last week’s No.1 channel Zee Anmol to be the No.1 channel this week. Zee Anmol with 712 million ratings slipped down to the No.2 spot. Colors’ show ‘Naagin’ became the No.1 show at HSM level.
Star Plus stood at no.3 with 676 million ratings. The channel had an average rating of 775 million ratings in week (41-50). The channel aired ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ on Sunday afternoon.
Zee TV stood at No.4 with 669 million ratings, the channel had an average rating of 655 million ratings in week (41-50). Zee TV had aired mahasangam of four shows Sarojini / Kaala Teeka and Tashan-e-Ishq / Jamai Raja saw a growth in the viewership for the slot. The Sarojini / Kaala Teeka mahansangam was aired on Friday in the (6:30-7:30) pm slot and the Tashan-e-Ishq/ Jamai Raja mahasangam was aired in the (8:00-8:30)pm slot.
Star Utsav acquired the fifth spot with 514 million ratings in week 51. Life OK and Sony TV acquired the sixth and seventh spots with 437 million and 342 million ratings respectively this week.
Sony SAB stood at No.8 with 323 million ratings in week 51. The channel’s new show ‘Sahib Biwi Aur Boss’ which airs on Monday at 10pm took the viewership for the slot up by more than 40 per cent.
At No.9 and No.10 stood Rishtey and Sony PAL with 286 million and 239 million ratings. Rishtey had garnered an average of 288 million ratings in week (41-50). Whereas, Sony PAL had acquired an average of 280 million ratings in the period.
DD National and &TV acquired the last two spots in the top 12 channels. DD National with 190 million ratings stood at the eleventh position and &TV with 170 million ratings acquired the last spot.
