BARC ratings: Maa TV takes No.1 spot in Telugu market; Bangla channels see ratings drop in week 33

In week 33 (August 15 – 21, 2015) BARC data revealed the top channels in the regional front. Sun TV, Zee Marathi, MAA TV and Big Magic Ganga in week 33 were leading their markets of Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Bihar & Jharkhand and Kerala respectively by a huge margin in viewership ratings. MAA TV took over No.1 spot in Telugu markets with a drop in ratings of Zee Telugu. 

Among the Tamil Nadu channels (Tamil/Puducherry markets C&S 1Lakh+) Sun TV was on top in week 33 and saw it ratings rise further to 293 million from ratings 278 million last week. It was followed by Star Vijay with ratings which increased to 84 million this week from 82 million last week. KTV was at No.3 spot and its ratings stood at 80 million.

Among the Marathi channels (Maharashtra/Goa markets C&S 1lakh+), Zee Marathi saw its ratings drop to 75 million this week from 83 million last week. Zee Talkies took No.2 spot with ratings rising to 36 million in week 33 from 25 million in week 32. Colors Marathi fell to No.3 spot despite an increase in ratings to 34 million in week 33 from 30 million last week.

Among the Telugu channels (Andhra Pradesh/Telangana markets C&S 1lakh+), Maa TV took over the No.1 spot as it ratings saw a large rise of 132 million in week 33 from 112 million last week. Zee Telugu dropped down to No.2 spot with a large decline in ratings to 125 million from 138 million last week. Gemini TV took No.3 spot with ratings of 105 million this week.

Among the Kannada channels (Karnataka market C&S 1lakh+), Colors Kannada was on top spot in week 33 saw marginal decline in ratings to 63 million from 64 million last week. Udaya TV took No.2 spot with ratings at 47 million from 48 million last week. Zee Kannada saw a large decline in ratings and hence dropped to No.3 spot with ratings of 43 million from 50 million last week.

Among the Bhojpuri channels (Bihar and Jharkhand market C&S 1lakh+), Big Magic Ganga had a viewership of 37% share as its ratings increased to 5085(‘000s) this week from 4117 (‘000s) last week. ETV Bihar Jharkhand was at No.2 spot with ratings decline marginally to 2041 (‘000s) this week from 2144 (‘000s) last week. Dangal TV was at No.3 spot with ratings of 1399(‘000s) in week 33.

Asianet (Kerala market C&S 1lakh+) was on top as its ratings rose to 170 million from 166 million last week. Mazhavil Manorama’s ratings however declined to 50 million in week 33 from 57 million last week. Surya TV was at No.3 spot with ratings of 39 million.

Among the Bangla channels (West Bengal C&S 1lakh+) Star Jalsha was on top saw a large drop in ratings to 75 million this week from 82 million last week. Zee Bangla’s ratings too declined to 55 million this week from 59 million last week. Jalsha Movies’ ratings at No.3 stayed the same as last week at 15 million.
