As per week 6 (06-12 February,2016) of the BARC data ,including both rural and urban markets, Hindi GECs garnered a total 5.7 billion ratings 000s in Hindi Speaking Markets (HSM) whereas, 2.8 billion in only the rural market. Sports channels like DD Sports, Ten Sports, Sony Six and Star Sports 1 & 3 witnessed exponential rise in the ratings in week 6.
The sum of 30 min Impressions ‘000s in week 6 of India Rural were 49 per cent (28,07,549), the 13 week average for which was 48 per cent ( 27,37,846), for below 10L population it were 25 per cent (14,40,231), almost same as the past 13 week average. The 10-75 L population fetched 14 per cent (8, 37, 160) of the total viewership ratings in week 6 where as the mega cities garnered 12 per cent (6, 86, 128).
DD sports saw an increase in its viewership by 109 per cent as it gained on all days. The telecast of the 12th South Asian Games fuelled the rise in ratings of the channel.
The channel saw an increase led by Assam and other states in the North East, Punjab/Haryana/ Chandigarh/Himachal Pradesh/Jammu & Kashmir, UP and Rajasthan in that order.
‘Namaste India’ event 2016 took the 18:00 – 19:00 slot of Ten Sports on Monday up by 8 times. The ratings rose to 1,608 in week 6 from 200 in week 5.
The ratings of Sony Six on Saturday of the 09:00 – 18:00 slot went up by 6 times during the telecast of the IPL auction. The ratings went up to 573 in week 6 from 92 in week 5.
Viewership for Star Sports 1 & 3 in the 08:30 – 15:30 slot on Tuesday increased by more than 3 times during U-19 World cup Semi Final. The ratings of Star Sports 1 rose to 1,099 in week 6 from 286 in week 5 whereas, Star Sports 3’s ratings rose to 738 in week 6 from 177 in week 5.
Also, the viewership of Star Sports 1 & 3 for the 19:30 – 22:30 slot on Tuesday increased by 18 times during India v/s Sri Lanka first T-20. The ratings of Star Sports 1 increased from 216 to 8,118 whereas, the ratings of Star Sports 3 increased from 807 in week 5 to 10,218 in week 6.
And, during India Vs Sri Lanka second T-20 viewership for the 19:30-23:00 slot on Saturday increased by 13 times. The ratings of the slot of Star Sports 1 rose from 394 in week 5 to 9,509 in week 6 whereas, it rose to 10,944 in week 6 from 1,109 in week 5 for Star Sports 3.
Among the Hindi GECs, Star Plus, Colors and Zee TV acquired the top three spots. Star Plus saw a decrease in viewership on Monday and Tuesday, primarily led by the prime time shows, Saath Nibhana Saathiya and Yeh Hai Mohabattein. The channel fetched 711 million ratings in week 6. Colors saw a drop on Sunday in week 6, mainly during prime time and stood at No.2 with 689 million. The 13 week average ratings of the channel were 724 million.
Zee TV fetched 686 million ratings and remained at No.3 like the previous week. The channel had an average rating of 665 million of the past 13 weeks.
Free to air channels like Zee Anmol, Star Utsav, Sony Pal and Rishtey gained back viewership which they had lost last week on account of the DD Freedish migration.
Sony TV witnessed an increase in viewership on account of 61st Filmfare Awards. The 18:59-23:12 on Sunday went up by 2 times. The channel fetched 349 million ratings and stood at No.8.
