According to week 4 (January 23- 29, 2016) of BARC Ratings, The Republic Day parade was telecast on more than 33 channels which drew 67 million gross impressions. Viewership for the slot went up by more than seven times than the previous weeks.
The nation turned political across all the markets. The gross impression across the mega cities, rural population, 10-75L and Below 10L urban population went up to around 20,000 in week 4 which was below 5,000 in week 3.
Ratings of DD channels went up to more than 12 times during the parade hours.
The ratings of DD National on Friday in 16.45 – 18.15 slot across the Hindi Speaking channels rose to 645 in week 4. The average ratings of previous 13 weeks were 129.
The Hindi news genre has rose by 82 per cent on Republic Day, during the parade hours the genre went up by more than 350 per cent.
The English news genre has gained by 75 per cent on Republic day. The impression of Times Now went up to 100 on Republic Day which was 60 in week 3. The impressions of India Today were slightly higher than week 3’s 40. The ratings of NDTV 24*7 went up to almost 60 in week 4 from 40 in week 3. CNN IBN rose to around 70 in week 4 from 10 in the previous week.
Star Plus became the most watched channel in week 4 replacing Colors. Star Plus saw an increase in its viewership on Sunday on account of the telecast of the 22nd Annual Star Screen Awards.
Colors slipped down to No.2 in week 4. But the viewership for Colors has remained more or less constant in week 4 as compared to week 3.
Zee TV remained at No.3 and witnessed Zee an increase in the viewership of its prime time shows on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Zee Anmol and STAR Utsav remained No.4 and No.5 like week 3.Sony Pal climbed a step up from No.7 to No.6 in week 4.
DD National stood at No.8 as it gained viewership on account of Republic Day and the T20 match played between India and Australia.
