BARC Ratings: Bhojpuri Cinema bounces back to the top spot among the Bhojpuri channels in week 3

In week 3 (January 16-22, 2016) of the BARC Ratings, Bhojpuri Cinema bounced back to the second spot in week 3 after being pushed to the second spot by Big Magic Ganga in week 2. Sun TV fetched the highest ratings of 969 million across all the regional channels in week 3 of 2016. Zee Telugu which was at no.3 in week 2 moved up to the second spot in the markets of Telengana/Andhra Pradesh. Udaya Movies replaced Udaya TV to be the second most viewed channel of Karnataka market. Zee Marathi, Star Jalsha and Asianet let their markets of Telengana/Andhra Pradesh, Mumbai/Goa, West Bengal and Kerala respectively.

In the Bihar and Jharkhand markets (C&S 1lakh+), Bhojpuri Cinema bounced back to the top spot with 20 million ratings. The channel was at No.2 last week with 14 million ratings. Previous Week’s Ni.1 Bhojpuri channel Big Magic Ganga lost some eyeballs and hence came down to the second spot with 10 million ratings which was 19 million in week 2. Dabangg with a consistent rating of 9 million remained at No.3. Dangal TV fetched 6 million ratings and stood at No.4. ETV Bihar Jharkhand garnered 3 million ratings, same as week 2, and stood at No.5.

Sun TV garnered the maximum ratings of 969 million across all the regional channels again. But, the channel witnessed a fall in the ratings from 1070 million in week 2. KTV, at No.2, had 282 million ratings, less than previous week’s 303 million. Star Vijay with 210 million ratings stood at No.3. The channel had 220 million ratings in week 2. Polimer remained at No.4 with 97 million ratings. Kalaignar remained on the fifth spot with 83 million ratings.

Among the Telugu channels (Andhra Pradesh/Telangana markets C&S 1lakh+), ETV Telugu continued to be the topmost channel fourth week in a row. But the channel garnered 400 million ratings which was 416 million in week 2. Zee Telugu which was at no.3 in week 2 moved up to the second spot with 388 million ratings, but the channel lost in terms of ratings as it had 390 million ratings in the previous week. Gemini TV climbed up to the third spot with 365 million ratings, the channel had 386 million ratings in week 2. Maa TV which lost massively in terms of both rating and rank in week 3. The channel which had 413 million ratings and was the second best Telugu channel came down to the fourth spot with 365 million ratings. Gemini Movies remained at No.5 with 194 million ratings which was 166 million in week 2.

In the Karnataka market, Colors Kannada garnered 298 million ratings, more than 282 million in week 1, and continued to be the most viewed channel in the third week also. Udaya Movies which was at No.3 last week stepped up to the second spot but saw a dip in the ratings from 152 million to 151 million in week 3. Suvarna which was at No.5 in week 2 leaped to the third spot and garnered 150 million ratings, higher than previous week’s 137 million. Udaya TV lost many eyeballs and came down to the fourth spot after being at the second spot in the previous week. The channel fetched 141 million ratings which was 167 in week 2. At No.5 stood Zee Kannada with 137 million ratings, less than week 2’s 146 million.

In the Maharashtra market (Maharashtra/Goa markets C&S 1lakh+), Zee Marathi garnered 177 million ratings, higher than last week’s 171 million, and stood at No.1. Colors Marathi replaced Zee Talkies to be on the second spot with 95 million ratings, higher than previous week’s 83 million. Zee Talkies lost a large number eyeballs hence the ratings dropped from 91 million to 59 million in week 3 as a result of which it slipped down to No.3. Star Pravah with 45 million ratings stood at No.4. Maiboli fetched 22 million ratings and stood at No.5.

Among the Malyalam channels, Asianet remained to be the No.1 channel with 375 million ratings. The channel had 394 million ratings in week 1. Mazhavil Manorama stood at No.2 with 98 million ratings, higher than previous week’s 91 million. Flowers TV lost in viewership ratings from 83 million in the previous week but remained at No.3 with 76 million ratings. Asianet Movies remained at No.4 with a constant rating of 59 million. Surya TV saw a slight dip in ratings from 55 million in week 2 to 52 million in week 3 and remained at No.5.

In the Odisha market, Sarthak TV remained at No.1 with 106 million ratings like week 2.  Tarang TV with 53 million ratings, less than previous week’s 72 million, stood at no.2. Colors Oriya remained at No.3 with 20 million ratings, less than previous week’s 20 million. Odisha TV garnered 13 million ratings remained at No.4. Prameya News 7 garnered 9 million ratings and stood at No.5.

In the West Bengal market, Star Jalsha garnered 245 million ratings, higher than previous week’s 233 million ratings and continued to be the No.1 Bengali channel. Zee Bangla saw a dip in the ratings from 175 million to 147 million and continued to be the second most viewed Bengali channel in week 3. Jalsha Movies stood at No.3 this week also and garnered 66 million ratings, more than previous week’s 57 million. Zee Bangla Cinema garnered 41 million ratings and stood at No.4. Colors Bangla stood at No.5 with 33 million ratings.
