AXN will premiere in India the CIA-themed series, The Agency, on April 2 at 8 p.m. The pilot episode in the US, dealing with a terrorist threat in Europe linked to Osama bin Laden and the Al-Qaeda group, was withdrawn due to sensitivity reasons post the September 11 tragedy.
According to Rohit Bhandari, senior marketing manager, SET India Limited, Pepsi, Samsung and Fiat will be sponsoring the show
AXN has also taken steps to reduce the clutter on the channel by fixing commercial airtime at 8 minutes to an hour of programming. According to company sources, earlier AXN was operating at 11 minutes of airtime sales to an hour for some of its popular shows.
The Agency, directed by blockbuster movie maker Wolfgang Petersen of Air Force One fame, is about the inner workings of the Central Intelligence Agency. In the reality drama genre, another episode of The Agency shows anthrax attacks on Washington. The series was shot even before the real-life anthrax events took place in the US.
