Amrita TV spruces up evening offering with three news shows

Following the success of its format shows like ‘Super Star’ and ‘Super Star Junior’, Amrita TV gearing up for yet another talent hunt show to zero in on the ‘Best Actor’. The new show, which premieres on September 3, 2007, will air Monday to Friday at 9.30 pm, and is a culmination of an extensive screen test of nearly 5,000 aspirants conducted in Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore and across Kerala.

Twenty participants in the 18-35 age group were shortlisted to undergo a three-day acting workshop at Thiruvananthapuram, moderated by noted theatre and film personalities. These contestants will now compete in ‘Oxywash Best Actor’. The new programme format encompasses the entire gamut of cinema, theatre, and television, acting styles, modelling, et al.

As part of the grooming sessions, the contestants will be visiting reputed acting and theatre schools in the country and well-known actors from the tinsel world and theatre will be conducting training modules for the contestants. The elimination and advancement of contestants to further rounds of the reality show will be based on SMSes sent in by viewers, as was the case in other talent hunt programmes on Amrita TV.

The winner of ‘Oxywash Best Actor’ will win a trip to Hollywood besides getting an opportunity to act in a Malayalam movie. The second prize is a Suzuki Alto car sponsored by Duroflex.

Apart from the talent hunt show, Amrita TV is also launching ‘Sandhya Lekshmi’, which premieres on September 3, and will be aired Monday and Friday at 6.30 pm. ‘Sandhya Lekshmi’ is a family-oriented drama revolving around the friendship of two girls whose lives undergo transformation when they get married. It underlines the unshakeable faith of one of the characters in the power of God despite all the odds that she undergoes in life.

The third show, ‘Super Dancer Pure Gold’, went on air on September 1. The show, which airs on Saturdays and Sundays at 8 pm, recaptures the best moments of ‘Super Dancer’, the reality dance show which was on air sometime back on Amrita TV, along with a freshly choreographed dance number in every episode.
