After Discovery's U-turn, Fox I'ntl Channels joins monthly ratings brigade

Broadcasters continue to remain divided over the monthly and weekly release of ratings data even as top advertisers have started to pull out of the channels opting for monthly ratings.

In a latest development, Fox International Channels (FIC), which runs Fox Traveller and National Geographic Channel, has written to TAM Media asking for monthly ratings. Some of the other offerings of FIC include Fox Crime, Nat Geo Music, Nat Geo Adventure, Nat Geo Wild, FX, and Nat Geo HD.

The other broadcasters that have opted for monthly ratings and the CPT format are STAR India, ZEE, MSM, Viacom18, Network18, NDTV, Times Television Network and BAG Films.

Fox’s decision comes a day after Discovery Channel changed its stance and officially wrote to TAM to get back to weekly ratings.

It may be recalled that earlier TAM Media had confirmed that ratings would be released on a monthly basis henceforth for the select broadcasters. This apart, the CPT (Cost Per Thousand) format will be used for reporting the ratings.

Though meetings are going on between broadcasters and advertisers in order to resolve the matter, nothing has been finalised as yet.
