Aaj Tak launches interactivity-based fantasy programme on cricket – ‘Selector Aap’

Aaj Tak has launched a new cricket based show, ‘Selector Aap – Mission World Cup 2011’. The objective of the show is to pick the probable 15 players who would represent India in the next edition of the Cricket World Cup. ‘Selector Aap’ will be aired from September 12-19 at 7:30 pm.

The programme would see an expert panel comprising Kapil Dev, Madan Lal and Chetan Chauhan discuss and select the ideal 15 from a comprehensive list of 35 budding cricketers. Viewers would be given an opportunity to participate in the selection process through SMS and five lucky winners whose team matched that of the experts would get prizes.

Aaj Tak had launched the property ‘Selector Aap’ during the 2007 World Cup selection and had received an overwhelming response in terms of viewer participation. The objective is to take the property further and initiate forward planning for the next World Cup.

Commenting on the show, QW Naqvi, News Director, TV Today Network, said, “I think one of the biggest issues plaguing Indian sports is lack of forward planning. This is a unique show that aims at filling this void. Aaj Tak’s endeavour is to raise the bar of cricket coverage in this country by actively involving the citizens in the process.”

Viewers can take part by typing SEL followed by their choice of cricketer and sending an SMS to 52424.
