7th IIFA Awards: 480 million viewers expected to watch Live telecast worldwide

The International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) is all geared up for the 7th IIFA Awards, to be held in Dubai between June 14 and June 17. The event will be covered Live by 25 TV channels and 12 radio stations. IIFA expects to attract 480 million eyeballs for this year’s event.

The event will be covered by STAR Plus on June 25 at 8 pm. The channel will showcase the journey of IIFA through multiple programmes that cover the various events and interactions in Dubai and the IIFA Flashback over the past five years.

“It is fitting that IIFA, which celebrates the emergence of Indian Cinema on a global platform, is partnering with STAR yet again. We are proud to associate with IIFA and will work together to make this year’s event a truly memorable celebration of Indian Cinema for all our viewers,” said Ajay Vidyasagar, VP, Marketing, STAR India.

Aishwarya Rai starrer ‘Provoked’ will be premiered at the IIFA World Premiere in Dubai on June 14. The Jagmohan Mundra film also stars Naveen Andrews (‘Lost’ fame) and Nandita Das.

The brand value of the event has also grown several fold over the years. “The event was valued at around $10 million when it started in 2000. Now its value stands around $70 million,” informed Sabbas Joseph, Director, Wizcraft, the event management company which handles the property.

Idea Cellular, the official partner of the event, has initiated several contests around the event for its subscribers. “With Idea IIFA Awards, our privileged customers will have access to specially created merchandise, contests, video and MMS downloads and several other value added services. We are also launching two special awards – ‘Glamour Star of the Year’ and ‘Creative Person of the Year’ – who will be selected through voting by Idea customers,” said Pradeep Shrivastava, Vice President-Marketing, Idea Cellular.
