&TV, the Hindi GEC from the stable of Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (ZEEL) to be launched in March, is likely to air a show hosted by Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan.
However, details regarding the show and Khan’s role are yet to be ascertained.
According to earlier reports, &TV is designed to compete with mainline Hindi GECs, with a diverse mix of fiction and non-fiction shows. Some of the fiction shows to be aired on the channel are -- Razia Sultan produced by Swastik Production, Begusarai produced by Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Productions and Jaaswand Entertainment.
The channel is also in talks for acquiring internationally acclaimed reality show, ‘The Voice’, for its non-fiction line-up.
However, we were unable to receive any official information regarding the same from the network.
ZEEL had earlier announced that it would be launching a Hindi GEC under ‘&’ brand, which has one movie channel &picture, during the current fiscal. According to some media reports, the network is expected to invest Rs 700-1,000 crore over the next 3-5 years on the channel till it breaks even.
Six months ago, the network had invested Rs 80-100 crore on the launch of premiere Hindi GEC Zindagi. A year earlier, it had pumped in Rs 150 crore on the launch of channels -- Zee Anmol and &pictures -- and its digital verticals to increase revenues in the market, which has become fragmented.
