Kantar Case: Delhi HC adjourns hearing to May 12

The Delhi High court today adjourned the hearing of Kantar Market Research and the Government of India case to May 12, 2015.

Justice Rajiv Shakdher was hearing the case, which is going on for the past one year. The court has asked the Indian Broadcasting Federation to file an affidavit in two weeks. It has also asked the federation to file a rejoinder for the same.

Advocate Nisha Bhambhani was representing the News Broadcasters’ Association, while Abhishek Malhotra represented the Indian Broadcasting Federation. Both the parties discussed the guidelines and cross-media ownership in TAM.

The previous government had introduced new guidelines to showcase TRP ratings. TAM is a joint-venture of Kantar and Nielsen.

This was the fifth hearing in the case.

In a hearing on September 8, 2014, the Indian Broadcasting Federation (IBF) had accepted a notice by Kantar counsel. The court had asked Kantar to file a response within two weeks and submit an advance copy to IBF.

Kantar counsel had requested the court to advance the hearing to February due to personal reasons.
