‘The Orange County’ to debut on Zee Café on December 30

More action is coming from Zee Café. Following the initiative to introduce original English content on the channel, Zee Café is now bringing teen drama series, ‘The Orange County’. The show launches on Friday, December 30, 2005 at 9:30 pm.

Neil Chakravarti, Business Head, Zee Café, said, “The content in ‘The Orange County’ is something that teenagers across the globe can relate to. The trials and tribulations, the ups and downs in their lives is like a page out of the book from any teenager’s life across the globe, and we strongly feel the show will appeal to teens even in India.”

Industry word is that as was the case with ‘Friends’, ‘The Orange County’ will also see presence on STAR World as well. Even as no confirmed word on the same is available yet, if the show does make it to STAR World, Zee Café would have a clear lead in terms of airing of the episodes. Whether this will have an impact on ratings, one cannot really be sure of.

Zee Café is excited with this new show on the channel. Chakravarti added, “We are looking forward to replicate the success story of ‘The Orange County’ in India. It has become a powerful style force, influencing trends in music, fashion and youth culture abroad.”

‘The Orange County’ is a drama series set in a rich American suburb. It’s the story of the lives of the people who live in the Orange County. The serial became an instant hit among youth, especially teenagers, in America when it was first aired, to extent that millions of fan clubs, online communities, and discussion forums sprang up overnight.

‘The Orange County’ brigade enjoys a cult following so much as to their real lives also being the hot topic of discussion. Currently, the third season of ‘The Orange County’ is on air internationally.

‘The Orange County’ is an idyllic paradise, a wealthy harbour-front community where everything and everyone appears to be perfect. But beneath the surface is a world of shifting loyalties and identities; of kids living secret lives hidden from their parents and of parents living secret lives hidden from their children. It’s also the story of Ryan. The story of a troubled teen from the wrong side of the tracks, who is thrust into a world of which he could never be a part. The story of “The Underdog becoming a Hero”.

The show stars Peter Gallagher, Kelly Rowan, Kelly Rowan, Ben McKenzie, Mischa Barton, Adam Brody, Chris Carmack, Melinda Clarke, Rachel Bilson and Alan Dale.
