‘Satyamev Jayate’ created a bond with the audience

Writing on ‘Satyamev Jayate’ when all the big wigs would be dishing out their expertise in microscopically analyzing one of the biggest shows in recent history of Indian broadcast, seems to be a tall order. But then again, with a show like this I don’t need to be an expert to share how it worked for me or anyone else who sat in front of the idiot box.

Depending on which end of the spectrum and what biases the viewer held, either way, it definitely made an impact.

The content touched a chord. The star power and the sheer ‘bigness’ of it all may have been a catalyst in my appointed viewership but none of that mattered when the ball was set rolling.

All else took a back seat as the story of the woman who stood tall against her ‘supposed own’ in saving that unborn foetus in her womb, took prime importance. For once, probably the done to death analogy of the nation as ‘Bharat Mata’ worked!

Resonating with the woman who lost her dignity in big or small ways, the bond was made and then through the subtle thread of compassion I cried, I was angered, I was hurt, I was ashamed, I stifled sobs and I was proud. All this rolled into that one episode. I definitely don’t need to be an expert to say that it clicked and how!

It seems the noon of the Sunday morning had a unanimous stand resonating truth above all.
