There is more action coming from Zoom as the channel readies to bring in two new shows – ‘Kuoni Hotspots’ and ‘Love Bites’ – which debut on February 12 and 14, 2006, respectively.
Speaking on the expectations from the shows, Aparnaa Pande, Head of Programming, Zoom, said, “We have huge expectations from the shows, and are confident that they will do very well. ‘Kuoni Hotspots’ is a travel show with a difference and we truly believe that it will be successful.”
Elaborating on the partnership with Kuoni for this show, Zoom’s Sales Head, M K Anand, said, “For a long time Zoom was looking at launching a hi-end travel show for the discerning new age traveller, who prefers to enjoy the experience and mood of the place he visits rather than do the conventional tourist things. Coincidently, this was the same that Kuoni was looking at launching their hi-end travel plans in India. Hence, ‘Kuoni Hotspots’ could well be called ‘a marriage of minds’.”
However, what is the rationale on placing the show on Sunday mornings? To this Pande replied, “I believe it is a very good slot as far as the channel is concerned. It is a slot people are open to watch diverse things; relax and experiment with what they view on television. Our Sunday slot is already strong with ‘Weekend Popkorn’ with ‘Kuoni Hotspots’ it will just get better.”
Pande divulged that there would be massive marketing around the two shows, including print, outdoor, radio, micro-sites and multi channel promotions.
‘Kuoni Hotspots’ is anchored by Supreet Bedi. The first two episodes showcase Singapore, followed by Superstar Virgo and Malaysia (KL and Langakawi). Some other countries that will be covered in the coming weeks are Spain and Austria. The show is in the Sunday 11:30 am slot.
‘Love Bites’ is hosted by Samir Kochhar and Gayatri, and will have viewers call in or SMS or e-mail their love problems to the show. The daily will premiere on Zoom on Valentine’s Day and will be aired Monday to Friday at the 7:00 pm slot.
