‘Come dine with me’ comes to India

Life OK has launched new show ‘Welcome – Bazzi mehmaan nawaazi ki’ on 10PM time slot. The show goes on air today.

‘Welcome…’ will be a weekday reality format show. It will replace ‘Saubhagyavati bhava’. The show is an Indian adaptation of ‘Come dine with me’, produced by ITV Studios for which the channel has licensed the format.

The show will compete with ‘Pyaar ka dard hai meetha meetha pyara pyara’ on Star Plus, ‘Kyaa hua tera vaada’ on Sony Entertainment Television, ‘Uttaran’ on Colors, ‘Mrs Kaushik ki paanch bahuein’ on Zee TV and ‘Hum aapke hain in laws’ on SAB TV.

Ajit Thakur, General Manager, Life OK stated, “We have always wanted to experiment with content that was light, fun and reality format based. The most important thing for the channel is to explore very Indian themes that are connected to the society.”

The channel has launched various promotional activities on different media platforms to create buzz about the new launch. The channel has allocated prominent spends to TV to create awareness through promos, trailers, etc., with significant focus on social and digital. The campaign would also be supported by radio and print.

The show would showcase the hidden cooking and hosting talent of Indians. Each week five different celebrities will get together at the house of each member and the task at hand will be to complete a three-course meal while keeping the guests engaged and entertained at all times. Each episode will end with the guests rating the host. After the round-up of all dinner sessions, the host with the maximum points will be declared the winner.
