‘3 Idiots’ delivers for Sony, overtakes ratings of ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani’

Aamir Khan-starrer ‘3 Idiots’, one of the biggest blockbusters of 2010, managed to sustain its fan following on television as well. A lot of buzz was generated when MSM had acquired the telecast right of ‘3 Idiots’. Rumours are that the rights for the movie were acquired for around Rs 30 crore.

The movie, which was premiered on Sony Entertainment Television on Sunday, July 2, 2010, got a TVR of 13.1 (for C&S 4+) in the three metros of Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata (or HSM Metro Markets) as they are known.

These numbers surpassed those of Ranbir-Katrina starrer ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani’, which was aired on Colors on December 27, 2009. “Ajab Prem…’ had got a TVR of 7.6 (C&S 4+ in HSM Metros). Those numbers were the highest in recent years, until the ratings of ‘3 Idiots’ were released.

Even in the six metros, ‘3 Idiots’ managed to topple the ratings of ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani’, which had got a TVR of 5.8 TVR, as compared to the TVR of 10.1 that ‘3 Idiots’ got here.

Considering these numbers, it will be safe to assume that ‘3 Idiot’s performance in the other markets will be better than the previous movies.
