Winners @ #GoldenMikes '17 speak

exchange4media celebrated the best in radio at the 7th edition of Golden Mikes Radio Advertising Awards, its premier awards property dedicated to radio. The function was held yesterday on April 12, 2017 at ITC Grand Central, Mumbai and was presented by 92.7 BIG FM.

The big winners of the night included Zenith Media, which was named Radio Media Agency of the Year, BBH India and Scarecrow Communications, which were jointly named Radio Advertising Agency of the Year. Nestle was honoured as Radio Advertiser of the Year. Radio City’s RJ Ginnie was named the RJ of the Year while the legendary Ameen Sayani received the Lifetime Achievement award.

Ameen Sayani
Today is a really magnifcient evening. One of the greatest things for me personally is that the award was given to me by Sam Balsara. There are so many things I have done, it will take an hour to talk about it. Mine is a career of 65 years in broadcasting which started right back in 1940 when I was 8 years old, when I became a young English broadcaster. And how I became a Hindustani broadcaster is a long story filled with lots and lots of failures until I took that one step which was Binaca Geetmala. I took that program because no one else wanted to take it. I was completely new to Hindi broadcasting.

Whatever I have achieved I owe to all our singers, music directors and lyricists who have given our film music a most beautiful quality.

RJ Ginnie
Thank you very, very much Golden Mikes for giving me this opportunity. What is special about these awards is when I was looking at the jury members and when I was looking at the people who were introducing these awards. The best thing for any artiste is to be honoured in a room full of professionals, so thank you once again.

This is the second year in a row that we are winning Golden Mikes Radio Agency of the Year and this is the biggest thing we have achieved this year and I think radio, by itself, is Scarecrow's love and affection. We keep on doing radio, we love radio and Golden Mikes being a unique property, which actually celebrates radio as a medium and this is why we love Golden Mike.
