Kolkata-based Sun Infomedia is launching two 24-hour FM stations – High 92.7 FM and Radio Misty 94.3 FM – in Siliguri by the last week of September. This is the company’s first venture into the radio space. The company is headed by two Directors, Niranjan Kumar Mittal and Milon Chakraborty.
Radio Misty 94.3 FM, with a catchy tagline of ‘Gungunate Raho’, is targeted at the local audience with programmes mainly in Hindi and Bengali. There will be some programmes in English and Nepalese languages too for the non-Bengali population. The target audience is SEC B in the wide ranging 25-60 age group. In keeping with its target audience, the station will play both old and new songs. The station will have celebrity RJs like Rupankar, Nipabithi, Satinath Mukhopadhyay and Sidhartha hosting the shows.
The main target audience of High 92.7 FM is SEC A+, A and B in the younger age group of 15-35 years. The station will play popular Bollywood numbers along with English and Nepalese songs. High 92.7 FM, with the tagline ‘High Hit Hai’, aims to capture the younger population of Siliguri.
Both the FM stations will be headed by Drono Acharya, who comes from a music and FM station background, while Swarnabho Mukherjee is the Programming Head.
Acharya said, “We are confident that High 92.7 FM and Misty 94.3 FM will successfully cater to their respective target audiences in Siliguri.”
Sun Infomedia also has plans of venturing into the newspaper and television space in the future.
