RAM Rambling: Radio Mirchi rules the Kolkata waves

As per RAM data, Radio Mirchi continues its dominance in the afternoon, evening and night slot in the Kolkata market.

Radio Mirchi ended Week 30 with a market share of 17.1 per cent in the afternoons in Kolkata, emerging as the No. 1 player in that time slot. Coming second was Fever FM with a market share of 13.6 per cent. Trailing behind at No. 3 was Friends FM with a market share of 11.3 per cent in Week 30.

The next cluster of FM players in the afternoon slot trailed far behind the top three players. BIG FM had a market share of 10.9 per cent in Week 30, followed by Radio One with a market share of 10.5 per cent in Week 30.

Radio One was placed sixth securing a market share of 10.5 per cent in Week 30 followed by Red FM securing a market share of 6.3 per cent in Week 30. Meow FM, reported a market share of 6 per cent in Week 30. AIR FM 2 Gold followed next with a 4.6 per cent market share in Week 30. AIR FM 1 Rainbow secured market shares of 3.3 per cent in Week 30.

Power FM had a market share of 2.5 per cent. Akashvani and Vivid Bharti have secured a market share of 1.4 per cent in Week 30.

Evening slot

The evening slot in Kolkata saw Radio Mirchi continuing its lead between 5 pm and 9 pm, with a market share of 23 per cent in Week 30. BIG FM was placed second with an 11.8 per cent market share in Week 30. Aamar FM secured the third spot with a market share of 11.3 per cent in Week 30.

Red FM trailed far behind at No. 4 with a market share of 10.8 per cent in Week 30. Friends FM was slightly behind with a market share of 10.4 per cent in Week 30, followed by Fever FM with a market share of 8.5 per cent .Radio One secured a 7.1 per cent market share.

The next cluster comprised of Meow FM and AIR FM 1 Rainbow, that came with market shares of 5.5 per cent and 4 per cent, respectively, in Week 30. AIR Fm 2 Gold secured a market share of 2.7 per cent. Akashvani has a 2.7 per cent market share in Week 30, while Power FM reported a market share of 1.2 per cent. Vivid Bharti had market share of 1 per cent in Week 30.

Night slot

Radio Mirchi ruled the air waves in Kolkata during the night slot from 9 pm to 12 midnight. The FM station secured a market share of 20.4 per cent in Week 30. Close behind was Big FM with a market share of 17.5 per cent in Week 30.

Friends FM was at No. 3, reporting a market share of 11.7 per cent in Week 30, followed by Aamar FM with an 9.3 per cent market share in Week 30. Giving a close fight was Red FM, which secured a market share of 8.5 per cent in Week 30.

Meow FM meanwhile, reported a market share of 5.5 per cent in Week 30, while AIR FM 1 Rainbow had a market share of 4 per cent in Week 30.

Akashavani and Vivid Bharti reported market shares of 1.7 per cent and 0.3 per cent.
