RAM Rambling: Radio Mirchi ruled Mumbai afternoons & nights; Red FM leads in evenings

As per the latest RAM data, Radio Mirchi continues its dominance in the afternoon and night slots in the Mumbai markets. However, the evening slot is led by Red FM.

Radio Mirchi ended Week 30 with a market share of 18.1 per cent in the afternoons in Mumbai. Coming in second was BIG FM with a market share of 13.7 per cent. Trailing behind at No. 3 was AIR FM 2 Gold, which had a market share of 13.4per cent in Week 30.

The next cluster of FM players in the afternoon slot trailed far behind the top three players. Fever FM had a market share of 11.6 per cent in Week 30, followed by Red FM with a market share of 11 per cent in Week 30.

Radio City came in sixth, securing a market share of 10.7 per cent in Week 30, followed by Radio One, which reported a market share of 9.3 per cent in Week 30. Meow FM followed next with a 5.5 per cent market share in Week 30. AIR FM 1 Rainbow secured market shares of 3.7 per cent and Akashvani had 1.6 per cent market share. Vivid Bharti had 1.4 per cent market share in Week 30.

Evening slot

The evening slot in Mumbai saw Red FM continuing its lead between 5 pm and 9 pm, with a market share of 15.3 per cent in Week 30. Radio Mirchi was placed second with a 14.4 per cent market share in Week 30. Big FM secured the third spot with a market share of 12.7 per cent in Week 30.

Fever FM trailed far behind at fourth place with a market share of 12.6 per cent in Week 30. Radio City was slightly behind with a market share of 12.3 per cent in Week 30, followed by AIR FM 2 Gold with a 8.7 per cent market share.

The next cluster comprised of Radio One and AIR FM Rainbow with market shares of 8.5 per cent and 7.5 per cent, respectively, in Week 30. Vivid Bharati reported a market share of 4.1 per cent. Akashvani reported a market share of 2.2 per cent where as Meow FM reported a 1.7 per cent market share.

Night slot

Radio Mirchi ruled the air waves in Mumbai during the night slot from 9 pm to 12 midnight. The FM station secured a market share of 21.8 per cent in Week 30. Close behind was Radio City with a market share of 16.6 per cent in Week 30.

Red FM was at third place, reporting a market share of 15.3 per cent in Week 30, followed by Fever FM with an 11 per cent market share in Week 30. Giving a close fight was Big FM, which secured a market share of 9.8 per cent in Week 30.

AIR FM 2 Gold meanwhile, reported a market share of 8.6 per cent in Week 29 and Week 30, while Vivid Bharti, which had gone through a series of ups and downs in the past few weeks, had a market share of 6.3 per cent in Week 30.

AIR FM 1 Rainbow, Akashvani and Meow FM reported market shares of 2.8 per cent, 2.3 per cent and 1.2 per cent, respectively, in Week 30.
