According to RAM data for week 40 last year to week 1 of 2010, for the Mumbai market with a focus on home listeners, Radio Mirchi has more home listeners in the metro. The FM station is not only comfortably leading in Mumbai, but the 14-week trend shows Radio Mirchi maintaining consistency in its leadership position.
However, even as it is leading in Mumbai, Radio Mirchi has seen a decline in its market share, ending week 1 with 16.2 per cent share of the market, from 19 per cent market share on week 40. The FM station was at its highest peak on week 44 with a 19.6 per cent market share.
Meanwhile, the second slot sees a close fight between Red FM, Radio City, Big FM, Fever FM and AIR FM2 Gold, with Red FM and Radio City having an edge over the others vying for this slot.
In the last few weeks, Red FM has managed to hold on to the No. 2 position with a market share of 13.7 per cent on week 1. The FM station was at its highest peak on week 43 with a 15.3 per cent market share.
The other FM station that is closely competing for the second slot is Radio City with a market share of 13.5 per cent on week 1. The FM station was at its highest peak on week 43 with 14.2 per cent share of the market.
AIR FM2 Gold ended week 1 with 13.3 per cent market share. Following it were Fever FM and Big FM with market shares of 11.6 per cent and 10.6 per cent, respectively, on week 1.
Radio One, Meow FM, AIR FM1 Rainbow, Vividh Bharathi and Akashavani make up the other cluster of FM stations.
