RAM Rambling: Big FM continues to rule the air waves in Bangalore

The latest RAM data shows Big FM continuing with its dominance in the afternoon and evening slots in the Bangalore market. The FM player ended Week 30 with a market share of 18.9 per cent in afternoon slot and 21.1 per cent in the evening slot. Big FM had reported a market share of 20.5 per cent for Weeks 28 and 29 in the afternoon slot.

Placed second was AIR FM 1 Vivid Bharati, which secured a market share of 15.7 per cent in Week 30, a slight increase from 14.6 per cent market share in Week 29.

Radio Mirchi followed at third position with a market share of 14.2 per cent in Week 30. This was a slight dip from 15.1 per cent market share in Week 29.

Radio One reported a market share of 11.7 per cent market share in Week 30, up from 10.9 per cent in Week 29. This was followed by Fever FM, which had been witnessing a series of ups and downs in the past few weeks. The FM player had a market share of 12.8 per cent market share in Week 30, down from 13.3 per cent in Week 29.

SFM/Red FM was placed sixth with a market share of 9.5 per cent in Week 30, as against 8.5 per cent in Week 29. Radio City came in next with a market share of 9.3 per cent in Week 30, a marginal drop from 9.4 per cent in Week 29.

AIR FM 1 Rainbow reported a market share of 5.1 per cent in Week 30; Gyan Vani had a market share of 0.6 per cent in Week 30; and Akashvani was placed tenth with a market share of 0.4 per cent in Week 30.

Bangalore evening slot

The evening slot saw some changes in the order of FM players for the Bangalore market. Big FM continued to lead the evening slot between 5 pm and 9 pm, too, with a market share of 21.1 per cent in Week 30 At No. 2 in the evening slot was Fever FM, which had a market share of 18.8 per cent market share in Week 30.

Radio Mirchi secured the third spot with a market share of 17 per cent in Week 30, followed by Radio City with a market share of 12.6 per cent market share in Week 30.

SFM /Red FM reported a market share of 9.4 per cent market share in Week 30, and was followed by AIR FM 1 Bangalore, which had a market share of 7.7 per cent in Week 30.

Radio One, which had seen a series of ups and downs in the past few weeks, was placed seventh with a market share of 7.3 per cent in Week 30. AIR FM1 Vividh Bharati Bangalore had a constant market share of 2.9 per cent in Weeks 29 and 30.

Radio Indigo had reported a market share of 2.5 per cent in Week 30, followed by Gyan Vani with a 0.5 per cent share in Week 30, and Akashvani with a 0.1 per cent share in Week 30.
