RAM data puts Radio Mirchi ahead of the rest in Kolkata

Within days of rolling out its service in Kolkata, Radio Audience Measurement (RAM), the radio listenership service from TAM Media Research, has come out with data for the eastern metro. As per the data, Radio Mirchi Kolkata occupies the top spot across age groups, occupation profiles and socio-economic classes.

According to RAM, Radio Mirchi has a listenership of 48.28 lakh as compared to other FM players in Kolkata. Big FM has a listenership of 38.76 lakh; Red FM, 34.96 lakh; and Friends FM, 27.39 lakh.

In addition to being the leader in the Kolkata FM scenario, Radio Mirchi also dwarfs other big players in print and broadcast media such as ABP and Zee Bangla, which claim to have a reach of 25.32 lakh and 16.54 lakh, respectively. The findings project that Radio Mirchi Kolkata enjoys an unduplicated listenership of 14.7 lakh.

Commenting on the RAM results, Prashant Chacko, Station Director, Radio Mirchi Kolkata, said, “Our success of garnering the majority share of the market is a reflection of our programming philosophy, which believes in giving the listeners the very best music, combined with great entertainment. Radio Mirchi has always been Kolkata’s favourite since its inception, and we would like to thank all our listeners for extending their love and support.
