Radiowalla to broadcast Mahindra SLPL live

Radiowalla Network will be broadcasting the Mahindra Sri Lanka Premier League (SLPL) live on its official website and on the official Facebook pages of Radiowalla, SLPL and the official website of SLPL. The venture will be marketed as SLPL Radio powered by Radiowalla.

Commenting on the partnership, Anil Srivatsa, CEO and Co-founder, Radiowalla Network, said, “This partnership will go long way in building up a new product to develop. This initiative is more than a partnership. Radiowalla is creating a radio product for SLPL and the spends allocated for this initiative are in few lakhs from our side. This initiative is going to help Radiowalla as a brand as it will establish us as a solutions provider for such initiatives going to powered by other corporates. We are doing for other corporates also we will be announced soon.”

The 2012 Mahindra Sri Lanka Premier League season is the debut edition of the Sri Lanka Premier League, established by Sri Lanka Cricket in 2011. The season will run from August 11 to 31, 2012. The tournament has a group stage and a knockout stage. The seven teams play a single round-robin tournament in the group stage and the top four teams qualify for the semi-finals. The winners of the semi-finals play the final. All of the matches in the tournament will be played at Stadium, Kandy and R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.

Sandiip Bhaamar, Chairman, Sommerset Entertainment, said, “We are happy to partner with Radiowalla Network and build a business digitally and grow the reach of Mahindra SLPL to all parts of the world. They have a professional team of radio and cricket professionals and over the next few years I am sure we will build an experience for the fan never before accessed.”

It is for the first time SLPL is presiding the radio medium and Radiowalla is focusing on getting specialised in this area. Radiowalla have a team of professional commentators and amateurs specialised in cricket, sports event and live event. The SLPL live commentary has commenced and will continue throughout the series ending August 31, 2012.
