Radio Mirchi launches in Goa

Radio Mirchi has announced the launch of its new station in Goa from this week. This is the third launch from the Entertainment Network (India) Limited (ENIL) since April 2007, after Patna and Jalandhar. The radio player intends to launch 19 more stations by the end of this year.

Commenting on the development, Rasika Tognatta, Station Head, Radio Mirchi-Goa, said, “Renowned for its rich musical culture and positive energy, Goa blends perfectly with Mirchi’s values. Our localised programming content is tuned to touch every Goankar’s daily life and thus we’re confident of winning them over.”

Commenting on the growth of FM radio in India, Nandan Srinath, COO, ENIL (Radio Mirchi), said, “Radio’s strength is its immense flexibility, adaptability and suitability for a modern and active life. A lot of towns in India today are energy-starved, and with the launch of radio stations across the country, radio will soon be a familiar sight.”

Radio Mirchi plans to broadcast a mix of shows including ‘Hello Goa’, ‘Khoobsurat’, ‘Total Filmi’, ‘Bindaas Ramdas’, ‘Purani Jeans’ for retro music, and ‘Dr Love’. Musician Remo has been specially roped in for a weekend show called ‘Remo’s Sussegad Sundays’ that will air from 1 pm to 2 pm on Sundays.

Commenting on this association, Remo noted, “I’ve always wanted to have my own radio show where I could play my favorite music -- the kind which is not on the Indian charts, but which I have collected over years of travelling on my concert tours.”
