My Favourite RJ: Swati

In the milieu of mass show formats and common content everywhere, those who stand out and get themselves noticed are doing a fine job.

While some create magic with their wit and some add a dhinchak element to their show, there are a few who manage everything with such perfection that they stand out amid the clutter. Vikas Madhwar, Business Director, Lintas Media says RJ Swati from Red FM is his favourite for the way she connects with her listeners and hosts the show.

RJ Swati hosts ‘Morning No. 1’ on Red FM and is known for her subjectivity and connect. exchange4media chats with Madhwar to find out what he likes about Swati and where the RJing scene is headed. Excerpts:

Who is your favourite RJ?
My favourite RJ is RJ Swati from Red FM. She hosts the show ‘Morning No. 1’.

What do you like about the RJ?
The way Swati interacts with everybody and the way she manages the show is what I like the most.

When do you tune in to radio the most?
Mostly, I listen to radio while driving, that is in the morning from 8AM to 10AM and in the evening from 7PM to 9PM.

Do you think RJs these days manage to create a connect with their listeners?
They do try to create a connect and sometimes they manage beautifully, but sometimes there are instances where I feel they fail to create that connect.

With increasing commercial pressure do you think RJs these days manage to keep their content objective?
Commercial pressure has increased considerably and it is very difficult to keep the content objective, however the RJs do the best of what they can. Feature content on radio is not common since the medium is still growing, once features begin, there will not be much of a problem in terms of commercial pressure and advertising.

From the entire media fraternity, which personality do you think can make a marvelous RJ?
I feel Farhan Akhtar can make a good RJ because he can hold on to the audience’s attention.
