My favourite RJ – Rohit Barker

Because of his no nonsense attitude and connect with his listeners, Rohit Barker from Radio Indigo hits the popularity charts once again.

Akshar Peerbhoy, Director – Operations, MAA Communications says that Barker’s choice of music and the way he speaks to his listeners, keeps him (Peerbhoy) tuned in to Barker’s show every day.

Barker has been in the radio industry for over 13 years and is very passionate about his work. From RJing to DJing, Barker has done it all.

In conversation with exchange4media, Peerbhoy speaks about why he likes Barker and shares his thoughts on the radio industry.

Who is your favorite RJ?
My favourite RJ is Rohit Barker from Radio Indigo.

What do you like about him?
Barker knows his music. He epitomises club music and is in tune with industry happenings. He connects really well with his listeners.

When do you tune in to radio the most?
I usually tune into radio while travelling – while driving to or back from work.

With increasing commercial pressure, do you think RJs these days manage to keep their content objective?
There are times when a station loses itself, there are times when it does not. Radio Indigo is completely local and has a city purpose. Indigo manages to weave its content with the commercial part. However, international standards are way better. They have wisely created and connected content.

From the media fraternity, which personality do you think can make a marvelous RJ?
Fashion stylist Gautam Kalra, according to me, can be a great RJ. He is an extrovert and thus, would fit the bill well.
