Friends 91.9 FM, which had hit the airwaves in Kolkata about six months ago, is all set to reach out to a larger listener base. The station has planned a ‘tune in’ promotion, which targets the non-regular listeners of Friends 91.9 FM so that they sample the station, along with its existing core listeners. A song-based contest called ‘Saat diner saat gari’ is scheduled to go on air from August 20, whereby seven Maruti 800s will be given to seven winners.
Jaideep Bannerjee, National Head-Programming, Friends 91.9 FM, said, “Now that we feel that our product is totally in line, we would like more listeners to sample our station, and we are confident that we will be able to retain a large chunk and thereby create a bigger listener base.”
Rohit Nyss, Head-Marketing Services, Friends 91.9 FM, said, “In the past few months, we have introduced many facets of our product through our marketing activities. Since the launch of the channel, our focus has been on our core TG and we felt it was time to now broaden the base and induce more trials for our station. The timing is perfect as all aspects of programming are in place and running smoothly. The product is well groomed to actually retain a sizeable number, post this first-of-its-kind tune-in promotion in Kolkata.”
Friends 91.9 FM is the radio initiative from The ABP Group. The station follows an adult contemporary format focussing on friendship and promises to break through the clutter of choices available in terms of the songs being played on radio at present. It also promises to take listeners back to the best years of their lives.
