Experiments and innovations continue for FM radio stations

It's time to do new things and radio stations are leaving no stones unturned. While Radio Mirchi is going on-ground for Mirchi Khoobsurat, Radio City is on a experimenting spree, too, with Live programmes working and the station also managing a deal with the movie 'Bluffmaster', where it will play all of its songs on November 16, 2005.

Through Musical-e-Azam, the channel brought live performance to radio, and one of the highlights of the show was Asha Bhosale on-air. Said Vikas Varma, Head-Programming], Radio City, "Radio City believes in setting new trends in radio programming. We've just completed the hugely successful Musical-E-Azam series, which had live performances by 21 music gurus."

Speaking on whether the concept clicked, he said, "Musical-e-Azam has given listeners a new and fresh look at their favourite artistes. The response has been undauntedly overwhelming with listeners still asking for more. That's not all, the artistes fraternity have appreciated the concept and want to be associated with such initiatives."

The next card up the station's sleeve is the movie 'Bluffmaster', where Radio City hosts the world radio premiere of the movie. All 11 songs of the movie will be played throughout the day on November 16 from 8 am exclusively on Radio City stations at Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Lucknow.

Varma remarked, "Our world radio premiere of 'Bluffmaster' is another step in the same direction. Besides the premiere, there are a host of promotions around 'Bluffmaster', including Hafta Bandh. Listeners will have many opportunities of winning 'Bluffmaster' memorabilia all through this month. And we're not bluffing!"

On-ground action for Radio Mirchi comes with Mirchi Khoobsurat – India's largest Beauty and Health Expo, planned from November 18 to 20, 2005. The three days of the Expo will get together a gamut of women from all classes. The station is also leveraging this as a platform for all major brands to highlight and display their products to a spectrum of women.

Not to be left behind, GO92.5FM has also lined up several interesting programmes for November like Tees ka Tees, College Radio Challenge, Celebrate Bandra, Good Morning Mumbai, Night Shift, Going Solo?, New Music First.

Add to this the initiatives that Red FM has painted the town with and it appears that FM radio stations are locked in the game of 'Radio Radio in the Hall, Whose the loudest of them all?'
