EMVIES 2008 invites entries for six awards categories

For the past seven years, the Advertising Club Bombay which has honoured the best in the business of media through the EMVIE (Effectiveness in Media Value) Awards, will hold the awards this year on July 28. It has invited entries across six categories with the last date for registration being June 27, 2008.

The categories include Best Media Strategy, Best Media Innovation, Best Media Research, Best Integrated Campaign, Media Agency of the Year, and the Grand EMVIE. The two Special Award Categories include The TAM Award for Best TV Research, and The People's Choice Award for Best Case Study Presentation.

Said Apurva Purohit, Chairperson, EMVIES Committee, "With each passing year, agencies are redefining known thresholds of creativity and innovation to deliver clutter-breaking solutions for the ever-evolving, dynamic business environment. While this makes it challenging for us to create newer parameters of evaluation, it also makes it imperative to access the quality of delivery to the client with impact to business and returns.”

She further said, “To truly reflect this critical factor, we have introduced this year a more stringent, meritocracy-driven judging process which will focus on specific elements of campaigns in terms of delivery, scale and business efficacy."

EMVIES has seen significant rise since its inception in 2001 -- from 78 entries in the first year, the numbers steadily rose to 125-plus followed by 200-plus and 350-plus in 2006. According to an official release, 2007 saw a total of 384 entries, the highest so far.

While Lodestar Universal was declared Agency of the Year in 2007, the media agency also walked away with six silvers, three golds, as well as the TAM Award and the People's Choice Award for the best media innovation in television and digital.

For EMVIES 2008, NDTV Media is the Presenting Partner and Sahara One, Just Punjabi TV, Mi Marathi and Microsoft are Associate Partners. The first round of judging will be conducted on July 7, 2008, followed by case study presentations on July 21 and 22, 2008.
