Chaska 95.0 FM is all set to hit the airwaves in Gwalior by mid-March, provided BECIL has been able to put the infrastructure in place by then. The station will be targeting the Hindi speaking population in the area and will have a youth centric programming.
While Bollywood hits would be the staple of the content of Chaska FM, the channel has also embarked on an RJ hunt in Gwalior as well as in Delhi for a greater connect with the youth. Meanwhile, the station has roped in the Meet brothers – Manmeet Gulzar and Harmeet Gulzar – to judge the contestants of the RJ hunt, which commenced from January 20, as well as promoting the FM channel.
Tarun Goyal Director of Chaska FM, said, “We are waiting for BECIL (Broadcast Engineering Consultant India Ltd) to complete the infrastructure development in Gwalior so that we can roll out our station there.”
Commenting on the programming content, Goyal said, “Overall, we will be having a youth centric approach towards our content, which will include the latest Hindi film hits. As a result, currently we (along with the Meet brothers) are in the process of acquiring licenses for Bollywood songs. Since this is a Hindi speaking belt, which also includes a large number of rural population, we are also creating content for these audience.”
Regarding plans to enter other markets, Goyal said that they would think about it only after they were satisfied with this station’s performance in Gwalior. Explaining the business model, Goyal said, “Apart from the major companies, we are also looking at local businessmen in Gwalior to advertise with us as radio is a region-centric medium.”
