Big FM Chennai’s Dheena RJs his way into new Guinness World Record

It seems there is no stopping Big FM Chennai RJ Dheena, who has set a new Guinness World Record by RJing non-stop for 150 hours. And when last contacted, Big FM officials said that Dheena was still at it even after setting a new record and despite the doctors asking him to stop. RJ Dheena broke the Guinness record set by Italian RJ Stefano Venneri, who had was on air non-stop for 135 hours in 2007.

Popular for his ‘Big Vanakkam’ show, Dheena began his attempt at the record on August 21 and eventually broke the record on August 26. It may be recalled that he had successfully completed 92 hours and seven minutes of RJ marathon in August 2007.

Adhering to the Guinness Book of World Record’s rules and regulations, arrangements were made for constant medical check-up for Dheena and witnesses were present at the studios to constantly monitor the RJ’s performance. As per the requirements, the attempt has been videographed and a copy of the same would be sent to Guinness.

The record attempt has undoubtedly bolstered the on-air content for Big FM. During his marathon RJing session Dheena kept interacting with celebrities, friends and fans from the station. Also, various on-ground activities and contests were arranged to make the record making marathon more interactive.

Speaking about Dheena’s attempt, PB Ramaswamy, Cluster Director, Big FM, Tamil Nadu, said, “My heartiest congratulations to RJ Dheena to have broken the Guinness World Record. His hard work and dedication has resulted in him getting his name registered in the Guinness Records.”

An elated Dheena said, “I am very excited to have broken the record. This experience has made me actually realise the love that people of Chennai have for me. People across all age groups came over to meet me, called me and helped me through this feat. This experience has taught me a lot – patience, focus, how to concentrate with almost no sleep, and of course, how much people love me. I thank everyone for their support.”
