The Association of Radio Operators of India (AROI) at its first annual general meeting in the Capital on Tuesday has decided to conduct the elections for its general body in the last week of January 2007. The filing of nominations will be in the second week of January 2007. Uday Chawla, General Manager, India Today Group, has been appointed as Returning Officer for the elections. His main role would be to notify the election date.
Giving details about the AGM, Rajiv Mishra, CEO, BAG Infotainment, and Coordinator, AROI, said, “We discussed a lot of common internal issues before the radio operators like music loyalty issues and Common Transmission Infrastructure (CTI). The major concern was that AROI should have a proper elected governing council.”
Explaining the voting process, Mishra said that each station would have one vote. It would be a completely democratic system and even small regional operators would feel that they were part of the main stream, he added.
