Apurva Purohit: Industry veteran of 25 years at the helm of Jagran Group

Yesterday, Jagran Prakashan announced the elevation of Apurva Purohit, CEO of Radio City (which was acquired by Jagran Prakashan Ltd), to President – Jagran Group. In her new role she will be working with top management in overseeing the entire business operations and functioning of Midday, Inext, Jagran online and other print and non-print businesses, besides Radio city, and shall also participate in strategic decision-making for the group. In addition, overseeing certain functional areas of the core business of Dainik Jagran shall also be part of scope of her work.

Purohit brings with her 25 years of media experience ranging across partnering private equity players in building superior organizations and creating valuable businesses, and handling media businesses and brands.

Purohit was the first President of the AROI, where she was at the forefront of several industry initiatives like the resolution of the royalty issue, the structuring of the phase-3 policy and the evangelizing of the medium amongst advertisers. She has also launched successful TV brands like Zoom, and also fashioned the re-launch strategy for Zee TV, the flagship channel of Zee Telefilms. Purohit is also a member of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting’s Sectoral Council on Innovation. She has been voted amongst the top 50 women in Business and amongst the top10 women in the media industry. She is a strong believer in nurturing and encouraging gender diversity at the workplace and Radio City is a reflection of her vision where 34 % of the employees are women. Over the past 10 years she spectacularly led Radio City through a cycle of ‘Build-Grow-Consolidate’. Purohit’s expertise as a media brand specialist is the guiding force behind transforming Radio City from a conventional radio player into one of India’s leading radio networks today, both in reach and revenue.

Kranti Gada joined the family business at Shemaroo in 2006 after a successful stint of over two years in marketing at Pepsi Co. She has been associated with the company for 12 years.
