Agra, Surat get new FM stations over the week

The week gone by saw the launch of four FM radio stations across the country. Big FM launched in Agra, while Radio City and Radio Mirchi began their operations in Surat. My FM has also announced its plans to commence operations in the city from August 27.

Commenting on the station’s entry in Agra, Achal Sharma, Station Director, Big FM, Agra, said, “We are very excited about launching in Agra. Our programmes have been put together after much research and understanding of local requirements as it is our endeavour to create content that is relevant, credible and has an aspirational value for listeners. We are completely geared and are eagerly looking forward to entertaining the city of Agra. We have been received extremely well across the country and we are sure of the same welcome from the people of Agra.”

Surat saw the launch of two new stations back to back with a third player set to begin operations in the city on Monday, August 27, 2007. Radio City and Radio Mirchi have already began their operations in Surat, while My FM will go on air from August 27.

Commenting on the launch, Apurva Purohit, CEO, Radio City, said, “We are thrilled to be a part of the lives of the people of Surat. It is an extremely important market for us and we eagerly look forward to engage with our listeners here. Combining our musical expertise, innovations and creativity, Radio City brings to Surat compelling content and a music mix strategically planned to uplift the mood of its listeners.”

Rajeev Banerjee, Gujarat Cluster Head, Radio Mirchi, said, “Radio Mirchi is confident of winning the hearts of the people of Surat by delivering programmes that are relevant to them. This is a station for the people of Surat, playing their music and speaking their language.”

Synergy Media Entertainment Ltd (SMEL), a wholly-owned company of The Bhaskar Group, will officially launch its radio station My FM in Surat on Monday. This is the Group’s second radio station in Gujarat, and the tenth station overall. This launch will complete the Group's launch plans for Gujarat.

Harrish M Bhatia, Business Head, My FM, noted, “We are glad to have this opportunity to connect with our listeners in Surat. My FM has already proved itself to be a successful radio station wherever it has launched, and we are very sure of its success in Surat too.”
