After Delhi, Hyderabad, Big 92.7 FM comes to Chennai; S Sankaranarayanan appointed Branch Head

Big 92.7 FM has hit the airwaves in three major radio markets in quick succession – Delhi, Hyderabad and now Chennai. The radio venture of Reliance ADAG’s Adlabs Radio has roped in Subrahmanian Sankaranarayanan as Branch Head. Prior to his new assignment, Sankaranarayanan was Gm with RK Swamy BBDO.

Big 92.7 FM was launched in Chennai on September 27 with the tagline ‘Kelunga Lifea Enjoy Pannunga’.

In order to ensure high aspiration and connect with listeners, Big 92.7 FM has singed on popular actress Asin as brand ambassador. She joins another celebrity brand ambassador of the FM channel – Abhishek Bachchan. The FM station has also roped in popular TV anchor Uma Riyaz Khan, TV actor Chetan, and popular RJ Balaji as RJs.

As part of its initiative to “provide entertainment with a cause” Big FM also flagged off an awareness campaign on road safety. The on-ground activity is supported by an on-air telethon, wherein some of Chennai’s celebrities would share their opinion on road safety.

Elaborating on the positioning and content of the station, Tarun Katial, COO, Big FM, said, “With the launch Big 92.7 FM, we aim to present innovative and contemporary programming content. Not only have we developed unique and fresh content, but we also have personalities on board who will create a connect with our listeners and provide the glamour quotient.”

“Our detailed research on the city’s psychographics would ensure that the station sounds refreshing and unique with major focus on utilities and entertainment. The music played will span eras and genres so that it appeals to all,” Katial further said.

Sankaranarayanan’s career spans over 18 years during which he has held several senior level positions. He was General Manager with AMP Sanmar Life Insurance Company. He also held various positions in Mudra Communications, including Branch Head, Kochi; Client Service Director, Hyderabad and Chennai. He also had brief stints with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd and NELCO, Hyderabad.

Big 92.7 FM was now headed for Bangalore, Tirupathi, Thiruvananthapuram, Visakhapatinam, Mangalore, Mysore and Pondicherry, where the channel will be launched before this fiscal was over, informed Katial.
