Mahindra’s Roma Balwani to receive Sabre Award

Roma Balwani, Senior VP and Group Head, Corporate Communications, Mahindra & Mahindra has been chosen for a Sabre Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement for the year 2012. The Awards will be presented at the annual Asia-Pacific Awards dinner in Hong Kong on September 26.

Commenting on the Award, Balwani said, “This global recognition is special, as it recognises and salutes the progress of Public Relations in India as a strategic corporate function. Mahindra’s federation of businesses has given me the perfect platform to take global communication for the Group’s diverse businesses to a different level. This Award also felicitates the successful ‘Mahindra Rise’ branding initiative, which enables people and communities to Rise. This unique movement gave us the opportunity to understand and leverage new age media to reach out to all our stakeholders.”

According to a Holmes Report, Balwani has played a key role in helping Mahindra navigate its international expansion and overseeing an ambitious global rebranding programme.

She had joined Mahindra in 2005. She is a 30-year veteran in the communications industry and has held senior communication roles at Aptech and eBookers, among others, prior to joining Mahindra.

Balwani is no stranger to industry accolade. She was adjudged Corporate Communications Professional of the Year at the first ever Indian PR and Corporate Communication Awards (IPRCCA) 2011. She was also declared Brand Communicator of the Year at the 2009 Asia-Pacific PR Awards. She was a panellist at the India PR & Corporate Communications Conference 2012.
