Hanmer MSL rebranded as MSL India

MSLGroup India has announced the rebranding of Hanmer MSL to MSL India. This move comes about five years after MSLGroup acquired Hanmer & Partners. Since joining MSLGroup in October 2007, Hanmer MSL (now MSL India) has undergone a series of evolutions to reach today’s current marketplace leadership.

Earlier in October, MSLGroup had announced an expanded India growth strategy to meet the needs of clients and negotiate the complex communication dynamics in the country.

Commenting on this announcement, Glenn Osaki, President, MSLGroup Asia, and Chair, MSLGroup India Management Board, remarked, “India has always been one of MSLGroup’s highest priority markets, and we are proud to invest in and cultivate our team’s passion and commitment to providing top-of-the-line creative solutions to clients, and being the most trusted advisors in the nation. The new MSL India brand will emphasise our dedication to innovate and engage conversations and communities across the India market.”

Speaking to exchange4media, Jaideep Shergill, CEO, MSL India, said that ever since the acquisition, Hanmer and MSLGroup have been working together very closely and this rebranding is a natural succession to move to the MSL brand. The objective is to build the brand.

He further said that this rebranding won’t change anything in terms of administration and operations. Both MSL India and 20:20 MSL will continue functioning as separate entities.

Calling the rebranding a positive development, Shergill said that following this, the “MSL brand will be the hero”. Along with this, there will be increased focus on digital communication as well as contemporary communication.

The firm’s next phase of development, in line with the recently announced MSLGroup India business strategy, will be to focus on cultivating strong communications professional talent, strategic communications services, and the integration of social, content and creative to form comprehensive solutions for both local and international clients.

Shergill informed, as part of this integration, MSL India will incorporate, what it calls, the Social Hive, which has already been launched globally. The Social Hive will serve as a common resource centre for all digital communication requirements and aid in forming one seamless organisation. MSLGroup has hired 50 people in India over the last two years for digital.

“In terms of manpower development, MSLGroup has an aggressive learning and people development programme, where the focus is on providing a strong culture, developing talent, a mobility programme that gives a chance to employees in India to train at MSL’s global offices as well as providing the best of infrastructure,” he added.

It may be recalled that last week, MSLGroup India opened its flagship office in Mumbai that is now home to the 250 joint staff of MSL India, 20:20 MSL and MSLGroup Creative+ in one consolidated location.
