West Bengal Electronics Development Corporation Ltd (WEBEL) has appointed Hanmer & Partners as their national PR agency.
Debanjan Dutta, Managing Director & CEO, WEBEL, said, “We had shortlisted a number of agencies and finally zeroed in on Hanmer & Partners because of their national reach and their existing client base. Hanmer & Partners would be servicing the account pan-India across Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai.”
Commenting on the account win, Sunil Gautam, Managing Director, Hanmer & Partner, said, “Though the East has been a late starter in the IT space, we have immense faith in the potential and the talent pool there. It is, therefore, to WEBEL’s credit to have taken on the onus of enabling more and more IT players to set up shop in the state, thereby facilitating the growth in the economy. We understand the faith and sense of responsibility that comes with the job at hand and we hope to partner WEBEL in all its endeavours to reach out to its target audience.”
WEBEL is the nodal agency of the Government of West Bengal for developing IT and ITES within the state. It has implemented several e-governance projects such as the West Bengal State wide area Network connecting all district headquarters, Gram Panchayats and blocks. It has also brought Internet bandwidth service to the people, corporate houses, educational institutions, and hospitals across the state.
WEBEL has also implemented a unique application where all 411 police stations in the state have been networked to make tracking crime more efficient.
