TOI firms up regional presence with Kolhapur edition

The Times of India is bullish on the Maharashtra market and has further firmed up its presence in the state. After editions in Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Nashik and Aurangabad, the English daily has now entered the Kolhapur market.

Talking to exchange4media, Arunabh Das Sharma, President, BCCL said, “The Kolhapur edition was launched to provide readers a wholesome English newspaper which covered local city news, along with the state, national, global, business and sports news. Also for the advertisers, TOI Kolhapur edition serves as a medium to target the local SEC AB segment in Kolhapur.”

The city’s rich culture and heritage is being used as a promotion platform with various media tools that include print, radio and outdoors.

Speaking on the competition, Das Sharma said, “TOI is a strong national and global newspaper. Now with local city content, it will be the leading English newspaper in Kolhapur. Additionally, readers will get an exclusive entertainment supplement, Kolhapur Times, along with Ascent and Times Life. TOI also has a host of reader engagement campaigns planned for Kolhapur, which will be rolled out in the coming months.”

The paper is targeted at SEC AB English readers with the age group of 18-45 years. The stories carried in the Kolhapur edition will also be available on The Times of India website.

With a cover price of Rs 3 and 16 pages, the Kolhapur edition also has a host of supplements circulated with the main paper. Kolhapur Times is an exclusive entertainment supplement, Ascent is the employment supplement, while Times Life is the lifestyle supplement.

Local, state and national advertisers whose TG is SEC AB English readers are the targeted advertisers for the paper.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that there are many more new launches from TOI in the pipeline in the year ahead.
