T News, earlier known as Raj News, group is all set to launch a Telugu newspaper from the Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh on June 7, 2011. The daily newspaper which is named as Namaste Telangana, will cover all the ten districts of Telangana. The newspaper will have seven editions with an estimated print run of over seven Lakh. The cover price of the newspaper is yet not disclosed by the group.
The team of the Telugu daily is being lead by the Divakonda Damodar Rao, Managing Director. Katta Shekar Reddy is heading planning, co-ordination and administrative wings of the newspaper while, V.Narayanan is appointed as Vice President, Sales and Marketing for Namaste Telangana.
Speaking on the thought process behind the launch of the newspaper, Narayanan remarked, “Namasthe Telangana, Telugu Daily, emerges from that urge for freedom. Namasthe Telangana will be a newspaper by the people of Telangana for the people of Telangana and of the people of Telangana. The paper will voice the concerns, aspirations and ambitions of the Telangana people.”
On the content of the newspaper, Narayanan noted, “Namaste Telangana is not going to be just another newspaper. It is planned to be different, complete and most popular newspaper of Telangana. Just not political news with Telangana tinge, Sports, Business, Cinema, features and Sunday Magazine…all will be a part of the Newspaper. Namasthe Telangana is designed to be superior in technology, quality and content.”
The print market in the region has been dominated by Eenadu for the past 35 years. Saakshi daily was launched three years back and it has made a dent in the market. However, both the media groups are from Seemandhra region.
Speaking on how network of T-News will be leveraged by the group, Narayanan explained, “It will certainly help in creating awareness instantly. We have separate editorial desks for the print and television however synergies are drawn for each other’s benefit.”
On the marketing plan for the newspaper, Narayanan noted that with minimal budget they would like to make it a stunning success in a short span of time. “The people of Telangana are already aware of Namasthe Telangana and are eagerly waiting for the launch. The awareness levels for the paper is very high and hence we need not really do much on this front. However, media will be used tactically as and when required,” noted he.
