Tehelka’s biz paper venture hits a financial roadblock

Tehelka’s business newspaper ‘Financial World’ might not be flagged off as planned earlier. According to a recent report that appeared in a section of the press, the publisher of Tehelka, “Anant Media Pvt Ltd is calling off its plans for a business daily because of a funding crunch”.

If sources are to be believed, senior editors have left the group for various reasons, which has severely hampered the launch of ‘Financial World’. Those who have reportedly left include Executive Editor Prem Shankar Jha, Business Editor Shantanu Guha Ray, Political Editor MK Shukla, Foreign Editor Shastri Ramchandran, and Science Editor Prakash Chandra, among others.

Tehelka Editor-in-Chief Tarun Tejpal could not be contacted for comments. Tejpal’s office informed that the launch of the newspaper had never formally been announced, hence talks of it being in trouble held little value.

Kranti Gada joined the family business at Shemaroo in 2006 after a successful stint of over two years in marketing at Pepsi Co. She has been associated with the company for 12 years.
