Tarun Tejpal interrogated by Goa Police for five hours

Tarun Tejpal, Founder Editor, Tehelka has been remanded to six-day police custody by the Goa Police in the sexual assault case. Tejpal also had to undergo interrogation by the police for five hours on December 1, 2013, who sought to corroborate the sequence of events that the survivor has mentioned in her complaint.

Earlier, Goa Police had sought Tejpal’s custody for 14 days, which was turned down by the Panaji Judicial Magistrate First Class, who instead remanded him to six days police custody.

As is known, Tejpal has been charged with raping a junior female colleague at a Tehelka-organised function in Goa. The issue came to light when a series of emails sent by the survivor, former Tehelka Managing Editor Shoma Chaudhury and Tejpal was leaked.

Since then, Tejpal, taking responsibility for the incident decided to recuse himself from active duties for a period of six months, while Chaudhury resigned facing intense flak for poor handling of the entire incident.
