Speculations rife about DNA Pune edition

We have seen in recent time magazines like Marie Claire, People, Geo, Entrepreneur India close down their India operations.

In a recent development, it is being speculated that DNA is shutting down its Pune operations. There have been rounds of discussion for a couple of months, but sources close to the development have informed exchange4media that DNA Pune edition maybe closing shop.

According to media reports, the human resource team of DNA has informed more than fifty members of the staff that they are shutting down their operations in Pune.

One of the senior officials who was earlier associated with DNA said, “They are scaling down the operations.”

Social media is abuzz over the news.

Vinita Deshmukh, Senior Journalist and RTI Activist, tweeted earlier,  “Pune and Bangalore DNA newspaper offices to shut down. Wonder what the management strategy is - make it Delhi-ised?.”

According to media reports, the employees have demanded that they be given eight months full salary ( based on Cost to Company ) and maintained any failure on the part of the management would lead to legal case being filed against the company.

The issue of DNA closing down is doing rounds since a while and there are talks the group may shut down their Bangalore and Mumbai operations soon.

It can be recalled that, in the year 2010 ‘Me’ magazine, a subsidiary of DNA (Daily News and Analysis), had shut down. ‘Me’ was a monthly magazine for women covering topics like lifestyle, trends, etc.

The IRS numbers were not up to the mark for the newspaper. They have contested the IRS numbers at MRUC earlier this year.
