Rajasthan Patrika to host ‘Concerned Communicator Award’

Creative minds from ad agencies across the country are slated to battle it out for the ‘Concerned Communicator Award’ organized by Rajasthan Patrika. The annual award ceremony is held each year on the newspaper’s foundation day. What is the USP of the Award? Ajay Tumkalia, General Manager – Marketing, Rajasthan Patrika tells exchange4media, “The Award was instituted in ‘97 by K. C. Kulish, Founder-Editor, Rajasthan Patrika. There is no business motive involved. Some of the country’s most profound thinkers and communicators are in the business of advertising. But their creative talents are only being used to develop commercial messages; we want them to utilize their talent to develop advertisements for social upliftment.”

Attended by luminaries from the advertising industry, the ‘Concerned Communicator Award’ draws entries from prestigious agencies across the country. “This year we have received entries from Hindustan Thompson, O&M, Rediffusion and Trikaya among others. Piyush Pandey will be on the panel of judges. The others are yet to be finalized,” states Tumkalia.

The last date for sending in entries is February 15, 2004. Rajasthan Patrika offers the winner a cash award of Rs. 51,000 and also carries the best 50 advertisements free of cost, giving the winners an opportunity to reach out to the people. Although the winners will be announced in Mumbai in the third week of February, the prizes will be handed out on March 14, 2004 in Jaipur. Last year’s winners were FCB Ulka and Leo Burnett.

Another award instituted by Rajasthan Patrika is the ‘All India Advertising Awards for Excellence.’ The only criterion for entry is that the contesting advertisements should have been published in any Hindi daily in Rajasthan during January-December ‘03. There are two categories – ‘Best Color Advertisement’ and ‘Best Black & White Consumer Advertisement.’ The last date for submission is January 31, 2004.

Rajasthan Patrika was awarded the ‘Society of Publishers in Asia (SOPA) Award’ 2002 for ‘Excellence In Reporting’ and is in its 49th year of publication.
