Raj Express launches two tabloids – R 16 & Career 8; revamps national marketing teams

Raj Express, a Madhya Pradesh-based newspaper, has recently beefed up its publication portfolio with the launch of two tabloids – R 16 and Career 8 from Indore. While R 16 is a 16-paged all colour tabloid to be distributed free daily with the Raj Express, Career 8 is an eight-paged tabloid on education and career options, also to be distributed free with Raj Express.

R 16 was launched from Bhopal in March 2009 prior to the Indore launch. It will be launched next in Jabalpur and Gwalior soon. The supplement aims to cater to the women and youth of the city with features pertaining to women, health, kids, entertainment, spirituality and youth. While the main newspaper will cater to the demands of the men folk at large, R 16 will help connect the brand with the rest of the family.

Arun Sahlot, CMD, Raj Group of Companies, asserted, “I will give my readers the best newspaper of the state by all means in the days to come and my advertisers the best option to reach out to the most potential consumers of the state.”

In view of reaching out to the advertisers in the metros more effectively, Raj Express has assigned the role of General Manager-Corporate to Arvinder Singh Bhamra for the national market. The Group has also appointed Rajeev K Jha as General Manager- Marketing, Delhi, and Darshan Gangakhedkar as General Manager-Marketing, Mumbai. The core team will be responsible for generating ad revenue, besides providing strategic support to the Group.

Commenting on the new appointments, Arun Sahlot said, “They have joined us at the right time when the group is envisioning an expansion plan soon and needs some serious professionals to spearhead the ad sales functions. I find them aggressive and close to the ground realities.”

He further said, “Besides, a whole new team of seasoned professionals from media industry have been set up at Delhi and Mumbai. Fresh pass-outs from management institutes like Amity have been incorporated to add thrust to the marketing efforts of the team and bring in a fresh lease of thoughts. This makes the Raj Express Group a close knit family with exceptionally talented and target-oriented professionals.”

Raj Express is part of the Rs 1,200-crore Raj Group of Companies, which comprises Raj Homes, Raj Industries, Raj TV and Raj Express newspapers. In just four years of its launch, Raj Express has established itself as a strong contender amongst the other older players in Madhya Pradesh. With four editions from Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur and Gwalior, the Group now plans to launch its Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan editions soon.
