Prabhat Khabar Editor stresses on education

The Right to Education is a fundamental right, yet many children are devoid of this right. In its bid to promote education amongst children and also to recognise the talented students of Bihar and Jharkhand, Prabhat Khabar has been conducting the Pratibha Samman initiative.

Speaking on the special event to felicitate students in Ranchi on July 22, 2012, Harivansh, Chief Editor, Prabhat Khabar stressed on the importance of children’s education. He said, “When we were starting Prabhat Khabar we thought of what sort of work we should do, as there were two main players in the national industry, The Times of India and Anand Bazaar Patrika. We thought the content of our newspaper should be very unique and different.”

“We decided not to focus on celebrity and elite class. We highlighted the common man and the future of the country’s children. If you turn to the pages of our newspaper that was published in early 90s, you will find that we always dedicated couple of pages to students who had done well.”

The objective was to highlight those students in the society. Soon after, many other media houses started to follow this trend.

The goal is to educate the society and the country at large. If a country needs to be developed, the children of that country should be well educated, concluded Harivansh.
