Hindi daily Prabhat Khabar, which currently publishes seven editions, has gone for a new look from October 26, 2006. The paper had last changed its look in June this year.
Explaining the objective behind the change, Harivansh, Chief Editor, Prabhat Khabar, said, “We have been trying to give the paper a very different and new look for the last one year. The first major change happened in June and the second part is now complete with this change.”
The paper now sports a different masthead. Besides, changes have been made in the presentation of news, too, wherein more emphasis has been laid on making the news reports brief and concise. With this change, the paper has done away with long news reports. Apart from that, the pertinent points of a news story are now highlighted in bold.
Prabhat Khabar now also carries more positive news of Bihar and Jharkhand. Said Harivansh, “The social atmosphere of Bihar and Jharkhand is fraught with social tension and non-developmental attitudes. We have tried to bring about a change in the attitudes of the people by our positive reportage.”
Visual appeal has been one of the core factors that the paper has laid emphasis on. “These days, with readers’ tastes and attitudes changing quite frequently, one must evolve and bring about new changes in order to compete with the readers’ demands,” Harivansh further said.
The paper recently had spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, founder of the Art of Living Foundation, as guest editor on October 26.
“Sri Sri Ravi Shankar suggested certain innovative things and highlighted the fact that the paper should play a positive role to make the country a strong world power,” said Harivansh.
Prabhat Khabar will give a major thrust to outdoor activities in order to create an awareness about its new looks. Plans are also afoot to change the look of its existing supplements. However, the time frame for the same hasn’t been fixed as yet.
